At Edge Up, we’re always thrilled to share the remarkable journeys of our mentees. Today, we’re proud to spotlight the inspiring story of Poorva, an international student who successfully landed her dream role as a Geospatial Analyst in just 5 months.
Poorva began her journey with a solid foundation, having earned a Bachelor of Engineering degree from the University of Mumbai, India. With valuable experience as a Data Analyst at Accenture, Poorva possessed strong analytical skills and technical proficiency in SQL, Python, and data visualization tools like Tableau and Power BI.
However, upon arriving in the UK, Poorva encountered the challenge faced by many international students: navigating the competitive UK job market without local experience. Determined to break into her desired field, she joined our career coaching program in November 2024.
Securing a professional role wasn’t easy. Poorva attended more than 10 rigorous interviews, each serving as a learning curve. With consistent mentorship, personalized feedback, and structured preparation provided by our career coaching team, she refined her interviewing techniques, improved her communication, and sharpened her technical presentations.
Poorva’s resilience and dedication were extraordinary. Her proactive approach to feedback, combined with strategic interview preparation tailored by us, significantly enhanced her confidence and market readiness.
In March 2025, after five months of dedicated effort, Poorva secured a prestigious position as a Geospatial Analyst. Her role now involves applying her analytical skills in satellite data processing, GIS mapping, and environmental data analysis, perfectly aligning with her passion and expertise.
Reflecting on her journey, Poorva emphasizes the importance of persistence and structured preparation. “Each rejection is a stepping stone,” she says. “Stay determined, trust the process, and leverage every feedback session to your advantage.”
